ich entnehme Ihrem Blog, dass die Classic-Version nun doch noch bis Ende 2026 im Support verbleibt.
Das finde ich ein faires Verhalten und sagt mir, dass Ihnen tatsächlich die Wünsche Ihrer Kunden etwas bedeuten, was ja heutzutage eher selten festgestellt werden kann.
Das hat nun doch meinem Entschluß geändert, so dass ich im Laufe des Jahres auf die Locus 4-Version umsteigen werde. Ich hoffe, dass inzwischen die ersten Kinderkrankheiten bereinigt sind und denke, Ihr Bemühen ein gutes und tatsächlich am Kunden orientiertes Produkt zu programmieren das ausserdem nicht unbedingt Google füttert, kann man durchaus auch finanziell unterstützen. Andere Apps verlangen da auch ihr Geld.
Ich verwende die Classic-Version seit 8 Jahren regelmäßig für alle meine Outdoor-Aktivitäten: Wandern, Radfahren, Motorradtouren. Und finde Locus nach wie vor toll. Auch darum…

Nutze Locus Pro seit über 10 Jahre und war immer sehr zufrieden.

Habe damals für Locus Pro einmalig bezahlt. Nach einem kürzlichen Umstieg auf ein neues Smartphone stellte sich die Frage was tun? Im Playstore ist die ältere Version Locus Pro nicht mehr verfügbar!!!

Warum sollte ich für ich für Locus 4 ein Abo abschließen und für alles Jahr für Jahr neu bezahlen und auch für neuen Lo-Maps-Karten?

Das werde ich nicht machen sondern wechsel ich zu einer anderen App, nämlich zu OSMAND Pro.

Diese kostet einmalig 69,99 und kann alles was Locus 4 Silver auch kann und mehr und die Karten sind kostenlos und besser als die Lo-Maps-Karten

Locus Classic is still a very reliable product and your license is (and will remain forever) valid. We did not break this promise. Locus Map 4 is a different product based on subscription, and we just recommend, not force, to update.

No matter how well-articulated the excuses are. I was a user in the early years, roughly since 2011 or 2012 and bought the lifetime one-payment version.
I cannot count how many times I have proudly recommended Locus Maps to others. Especially when they were disoriented in the middle of the woods without cellular connection, showing off with the offline maps feature.
Doing a rewrite because the codebase becomes unmaintainable is one thing and completely understandable. Even publishing the rewrite as a separate app is understandable. Changing to subscription model is a completely different thing. With selling the once-in-a-lifetime payment you made a promise and didn’t keep your end of the deal. Trying to lure your long-term customers and supporters into your subscription model by “giving away” the first year’s subscription fee left me dumbfounded. It’s less the amount of money for your subscription. But honestly, why would I trust you yet again with the subscription when you proved not to be trusted?
Since I have to overthink my cycle tour planning and recording strategy anyways as well as get used to a new app’s frontend, I am rather going to switch to free or even paid alternatives.

Nevertheless, thanks for all the years of publishing a great app which I will keep in good memory.
