The problem I have with subscription models is that the balance of risk and cost is too high on the part of the consumer: you end up paying typically 4x as much versus say paying for a major version upgrade every few years, but unlike when there is a known major upgrade, there’s now only a promise of unknown features *maybe* appearing, and a lot of features that do then appear are trendy stuff, social bla bla cloud bla bla, that every other app copies from each other (don’t even get me started on how each nav app is becoming a silo of info). How many truly innovative and genuinely useful to navigation features are being created in any nav app nowadays? Very few, it’s all mostly fluff. I wish you best of luck, but reckon you will need a clear road map of proposed features and a sensible fee if this is going to be popular

Same here. I bought pro app. But the subscription method it’s no go for me. I even buy new versions of maps (that some kind of subscription) but pay monthly will not work.

Mario, please, let me correct you a little bit. There is no “pro version that needs a subscription”. There is a single-payment Pro version available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=menion.android.locus.pro. It is still maintained and updated. For the “occasional users” of Locus Map 4, there is the monthly subscription that you can always cancel before auto-renewal. Moreover, we are preparing time vouchers for those who forget to cancel subscription before auto-renewal.

And after all these talking about the best possible business model you came up with a free version with ads and a pro version that needs a subscription. Now that’s thinking out of the box! And who cares if this model implies that the vast majority of occasional users will be paying to keep the price down for a minority of pro actors possibly making money with the app. You want to make me pay for what I consume? Then go for the same model your cloud providers use and make me pay a pro feature for the minutes I use it not for one year up front.

This whole subscription model is the last cry of a dying rotten world. First, you tried to persuade us to buy your products ten times. Now, you’re forcing us.

The harder you push the faster the alternative.

Hi Pawel, next time please contact our helpdesk at help.locusmap.eu.
1) we need more info – what exactly happens? Any error message appears?
2) do you use the same map directory as in LM 3? Are the maps LoMaps or maps from another provider? If the latter, use the same Locus Store account – the maps are encrypted by it.
