Locus Map cannot correctly store and read your maps, points or tracks if they are stored on SD card. For this reason Locus Map is not able to start.<\/p>\n<h2>Who is involved<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Current Locus Map users are affected (issue does not affect new users)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Only<\/strong> devices <strong>with SD card<\/strong>\u00a0are influenced.<\/li>\n<li>The issue\u00a0<strong>does not occur<\/strong> on devices with <strong>custom ROM<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Solution<\/h2>\n<p><a title=\"General solution for all devices\" href=\"#solutionA\" rel=\"nofollow\">Solution A &#8211; Suggested solution for all devices<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Sony devices\" href=\"#solutionB\" rel=\"nofollow\">Solution B &#8211; Use special private folder on SD card<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"How to leave my maps on SDcard\" href=\"#solutionC\" rel=\"nofollow\">Solution C &#8211; How to leave my maps on external SD card<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Roted devices\" href=\"#solutionD\" rel=\"nofollow\">Solution D &#8211; Devices with ROOT permission<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"solutionA\">A. The goal is to have only one Locus folder that is located in\u00a0internal storage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"solutionB\">B. Move Locus app\u00a0and maps into a private folder on SDcard<\/h3>\n<p>Every app on Android has its\u00a0own special folder on SDcard in which only this app can write. So it seems to be the\u00a0best solution how to place maps on SDcard on KitKat. But Locus (in default) does not use it because there are two main weaknesses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All content of this folder will be automatically deleted when you uninstall Locus Map. So all your maps will be deleted when you decide to uninstall Locus app.<\/li>\n<li>Locus Map Free and Locus Map Pro can not share data because every app has seperate folder app<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Anyway, if you decide to use\u00a0this method,\u00a0follow this procedure:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open Locus &gt; Menu &gt; Settings &gt;Miscellaneous &gt;Set Root directory<\/li>\n<li>Select path which contains &#8222;menion.android.locus.xxxx&#8220;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" href=\"https:\/\/www.locusmap.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/move_directory_to_the_private_folder.png\" data-fancybox><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7892\" src=\"https:\/\/www.locusmap.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/move_directory_to_the_private_folder-300x262.png\" alt=\"Move Locus root folder to the private SDcard folder\" width=\"300\" height=\"262\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Confirm and close Locus Map<\/li>\n<li>Connect SD card to a\u00a0PC and move whole &#8222;Locus&#8220; folder to the directory defined in previous step<\/li>\n<li>Return the SD card back and start Locus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"solutionC\">C. How to leave my maps on external SD card<\/h3>\n<p>Locus personal maps and Locus vector maps can be stored in external directory on SD card. Please follow steps bellow:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Connect the card to a\u00a0PC and create an arbitrary folder on the SDcard for your maps, e.q. MyLocusExternMaps<\/li>\n<li>Move maps from folders Locus\/Maps and Locus\/MapsVector to the folder MyLocusExternMaps<\/li>\n<li>Move folder Locus from SDcard to the internal memory (without map files)<\/li>\n<li>Start Locus Map (stored in\u00a0internal folder)<\/li>\n<li>Open Menu &gt; Maps, \u00a0from top right menu choose Add Maps &gt; Add,\u00a0 navigate to the folder MyLocusExternMap and confirm\u00a0on the\u00a0top panel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The result is that the Locus working directory will be placed on internal memory and all maps will be located in external folder on SDcard. This issue is also described in article\u00a0<a title=\"Saving offline maps on SD-card under Android 4.4 (KitKat)\" href=\"https:\/\/help.locusmap.eu\/responses\/saving-offline-maps-on-sd-card-under-android-44-kitkat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saving offline maps on SD-card under Android 4.4 (KitKat)<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"solutionD\">D. Rooted devices<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In case your device is rooted you can fix it by editing the system configuration<\/li>\n<li>Install application <a title=\"SDfix\" href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=nextapp.sdfix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">SDFix<\/a> and perform the system changes<\/li>\n<li>After that simply start Locus Map<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information please see:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chainfire.eu\/articles\/113\/Is_Google_blocking_apps_writing_to_SD_cards_\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/support.solidexplorer.pl\/responses\/kit-kat-442-issue<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chainfire.eu\/articles\/113\/Is_Google_blocking_apps_writing_to_SD_cards_\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.chainfire.eu\/articles\/113\/Is_Google_blocking_apps_writing_to_SD_cards_\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why Locus developers didn&#8217;t fix it?<\/h2>\n<p>Every application can create its own package-specific directories on SD card and use it for writing own data &#8211; see point B.
